Police appeal after pony dies in hit and run incident

  • A pony was the victim of a hit and run incident in the New Forest and Hampshire Police are appealing for information.

At about 7.25am on February 20, a red BMW car collided with the pony on the road at Linwood near High Corner Inn.

The car failed to stop and the animal later had to be destroyed.

Police equine liaison officer Pc Alison Tilbury said: “The car is described as a red, older type BMW. I imagine it was being driven by someone local on their way to work. It would have been damaged as a result of the incident and would have needed to be repaired.

Anyone with information can contact Pc Tilbury at Hythe police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
