Paralysed rider to hand cycle from the Tower of London to Blackpool Tower

  • A paralysed rider is planning to hand cycle 250 miles in 5 days to raise money for charity. The “Tower to Tower” challenge, from the Tower of London to Blackpool Tower, starts this Saturday (28 September).

Caroline Wareing, who broke her back in 3 places in a fall at the Staffordshire Show in 2009, will use a recumbent hand cycle.

“After learning I was paralysed, it was a case of getting through rehab and physiotherapy and trying to get back to normality,” said Caroline, a mother of 2.

The Tower to Tower challenge will raise money for Spinal Research and North West Air Ambulance, which airlifted Caroline to hospital after the accident.

Caroline will be supported by a team of 5 friends: Jennifer Anderson, Karl Crompton, Shaun Crompton, Jason Gorner and Katie Longworth.

To sponsor, visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/towerchallenge or text TOWER to 70300 to donate £5.
