A horse has died and two others are receiving veterinary attention following a four-vehicle crash on the M6.
Police have closed the M6 southbound between junction 5 near Castle Bromwich and junction 4A, where the M6 meets the M42 following the four-vehicle collision between an HGV, two vans and another vehicle at approximately 2.30pm.
A horsebox was also involved in the accident.
An air ambulance has been scrambled to the scene and the motorway is likely to be closed until after 9pm tonight.
Three horses were involved in the collision, one of which was pronounced dead at the scene.
