The search is on for the 2015 Petplan equine vet of the year and UK horse owners are invited to make their nominations.
Previous winners of this prestigious award include award Gil Riley of Pool House Veterinary Hospital, a regular contributor to H&H’s veterinary pages, and Keith Chandler, senior vice president of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA).
A recent survey conducted by Petplan and Petplan Equine suggested that 73% of pet owners regard their vet as a fourth emergency service.
Charlotte Collyer, senior marketing executive at Petplan Equine, said: “At Petplan Equine we work very closely with the equine veterinary profession and know, first-hand, how important the dedication and advice of vets is to our customers.
“So if you are fortunate enough to have a vet who is willing to go that extra mile this is your chance to say thank you and show them how much you appreciate their support and commitment.”
Horse owner, Tracy Pettifer whose Highland Pony Sunny recently required emergency colic surgery said: “I will be nominating my vet for a Petplan Veterinary Award, not only for what she did to save Sunny, but also for giving me so much support throughout my previous pony’s illness. She even sent me a condolence card after the pony died. It meant so much knowing that she genuinely cares for all her patients. She truly is a fantastic and talented vet.”
Nominations can be made until 16 January 2015 by visiting: http://www.petplanequine.co.uk/vetawards/
