Nabab de Reve heads final qualifier in Sires of the World series

  • The last qualifying heat for the finals of the TNT Sires of the World took place in the Nekkerhal in Mechelen, Belgium on 29 December 2000.

From a strong field of 38 stallions Lucien Somers’s course produced seven finalists for the jump off, with Belgium’s Phillipe Lejeune and Nabab de Reve (Quidam de Revel x Artichaut) the eventual winners.

The 10-year-old, Belgium-bred Nabab de Reve is by Quidam de Revel, who scored highly at the Olympic Games in Barcelona. Nabab’s dam is a daughter of the stallion Artichaut.

Nabab’s greatest rival in the jump off was TNT Caretano Z (Caretino x Reichsgraf) who is leading in the intermediate heats.

Ridden by Jos Lansink, the careful Caretano Z produced a faultless round, but just could not beat the winner’s time.

Third place went to the 12-year-old Belgian-bred Leader M Van De Zuuthoeve who jumped the only other double clear for Joris Vergauwen.
