More cases of equine herpes in the Cotswolds

  • Equine herpes virus (EHV-1) has resurfaced in a dressage yard in Gloucestershire, just a few miles away from last month’s outbreak.

H&H understands that one horse has been put to sleep at Lady Inchcape’s yard in Evenlode, where dressage rider Dan Greenwood is based.

Several horses are running temperatures and the yard has been isolated.

A spokesman for the British Equestrian Veterinary Association (BEVA) said there was “absolutely no need to panic”.

Owners with concerns about horses being “off-colour” should contact their vet, he added.

Symptoms include a high temperature, coughing, a lack of coordination and difficulty standing.
