Medal hopefuls may miss WEG due to lack of cash

  • World Equestrian Games medal contenders from non-Olympic disciplines are still struggling to raise the funds to compete in Kentucky.

Vaulting, reining and endurance are all determined to field teams, but have not yet raised enough funds to do so. Britain will not be represented in the driving competition at the World Equestrian Games due to the cost of transporting the team.

Lottery funding will cover the costs for the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, but the other sports do not have this backing.

Find out how much money the teams still need to raise, and how you can help, in today’s issue of Horse & Hound (10 June, 2010)
