Man airlifted to hospital after fall from horse out with the Beaufort

  • A man was airlifted to hospital from the Duke of Beaufort’s hunt’s opening meet when he fell from his horse onto the handle of his hunting whip.

The hunt had met at Worcester Lodge on the Badminton Estate on 1 November.

Tom Pitman, 38, of Malmesbury in Wiltshire, fell from his horse Winston and landed on his whip, causing a large wound to his back, below the shoulder blade.

Mr Pitman was flown to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and discharged the following day.

He is expected to make a full recovery.
