Jennifer Saunders is ‘Back in the Saddle’ on TV tonight

  • Actress Jennifer Saunders is back on our screens tonight (Thursday 16 August) in a new equestrian television show.

The first episode of “Back in the Saddle” will be shown tonight at 9pm on ITV1.

Jennifer who rode frequently as a child, decided to rekindle her love for riding after 40 years.

In the series she meets riders and equestrian celebrities including Princess Anne and Clare Balding and has lessons with Piggy French and Tim Stockdale while she prepares to try her hand at eventing.

Jennifer went to the spring horse trials at Gatcombe and met H&H blogger Lauren Shannon during the filming.

It was surreal to meet Jennifer,” said Lauren. “She had a busy weekend walking the course with the Princess Royal, sitting in the judge’s car for some advanced dressage tests and spending time with us in the lorry park.”

British Eventing’s Mike Etherington-Smith welcomed Jennifer to the sport as a role model for women of all ages.

“Many women challenge the perception that growing older means you have to slow down – eventing allows them take up that challenge,” he said.
