Irish amateur rider Jack Tyner dies after point-to-point fall

  • A 19-year-old Irish amateur rider has died as a result of head injuries suffered during a race at Dungarvan, Co Waterford.

Jack Tyner, the only son of Kinsale trainer Robert Tyner and his wife Mary, had ridden a winner in the first race at last Tuesday’s point-to-point (1 February). However, his second ride, Dusmagic, took a heavy fall at the first fence.

Jack was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he was being treated for a serious head injury. He was put into an induced coma, and died in the early hours of Monday morning (7 February).
