The Household Cavalry will be holding an open day on 22 July at their annual training break in Norfolk.
Members of the public are invited to the event at Bodney Camp near Thetford, Norfolk to watch soldiers and horses from the regiment take part in a show jumping competition, a Waterloo re-enactment, and a synchronised musical ride.
Captain Delia Holden said: It will be an amazing day with coaches, displays, and an obstacle course which will pit a horse-drawn carriage against a modern vehicle.
Other attractions will include a demonstration of tent pegging, an ancient tradition that harks back to when mounted soldiers would uproot the pegs of their enemys tents.
The Regiments annual July camp gives both horses and soldiers a break from the rigours of the London ceremonial season. A highlight is the riding of the horses into the sea at Holkham Beach (16 and 18 July).
Admission to the open day will be £8 per vehicle. For more information, visit www.householdcavalry.com.
