Firefighters saved a yard of horses from a suspected arson attack in Greater Manchester yesterday morning (Wednesday 17 April).
Fire crews were called out to a blazing horsebox in Bowerfold Lane, Heaton Norris, just after 2am.
“Fortunately, we got there very quickly and used two jets to stop it spreading, otherwise it would’ve involved the stables as well,” said Nick Hince of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
“The horses were very agitated when we got there because they were really close to the fire.”
Firefighters were on the scene for around an hour getting the blaze, which it is thought may have been started deliberately, under control.
“The fire destroyed the horse box and contents – the box was full of equipment, which is why we were there so long dealing with the fire,” added Mr Hince.
