Horses in New Year Parade

  • Horses and donkeys will be taking part in London’s 15th annual giant street parade on New Year’s Day.

The parade is expected to include around 12,000 performers from all over the world and more than 50 animals. Beginning at 12noon in Parliament Square, it follows a two-and-a-quarter mile route to Berkeley Square, via Trafalgar Quare and Piccadilly Circus.

The marching bands, cheerleaders and vintage vehicles will be joined by the Cyril Knowles Champion Shire Horse Team and representatives of the Donkey Breed Society.

The Cyril Knowles Champion Shire Horse Team from Essex has won championships in almost every county in England and Scotland, and has represented England in France and Germany.

The Donkey Breed Society will be taking part in the parade for the eighth consecutive year with a record number of donkeys and members.
