Horse rescued from garage roof in village near New York

  • A horse that got loose in a village near New York had to be rescued when it got stuck on a neighbour’s garage roof this week.

Firefighters were called to a residential street in Banksville, 50 miles north of New York, on Monday evening. A resident reported that a horse had become stuck on the roof of a garage.

The three-car garage sits against a hill and the horse had apparently jumped on to its roof from the uphill side after being spooked. The roof could not support the animal’s weight, and at least one of the animal’s hooves broke through, leaving it stuck there.

A vet arrived to sedate the horse before firefighters removed it safely.
