The horse industry now has two representatives on the board of the government’s new animal health and welfare board for England.
Former British Horse Industry Confederation chairman and current director of equine science and welfare for the British Horseracing Authority, Professor Tim Morris is one of the first four non-executive members of the board.
He joins board chairman Michael Seals, a former trustee of the British Horse Society.
The board will bring experts including farmers, vets, welfare monitors and others from outside government, together with the chief veterinary officer and civil servants, to make direct policy recommendations on policy affecting the health and welfare of all kept animals such as those on farms as well as horses and pets.
