Horse dies after being dragged behind a 4×4

  • A horse has died after allegedly being chased around a field and then dragged behind a vehicle.

The incident is believed to have taken place between 11am and 1pm on Saturday (31 August) in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.

Police told H&H they received reports of violence against a horse.

“Two men allegedly entered private fields and chased a horse around fields in a white Mitsubishi 4×4,” a police spokesman confirmed.

2 men were arrested by Kirklees Police on Sunday (1 September) in connection with the incident but have now been released on bail.

A post mortem will take place to determine the cause of the death and the RSPCA is helping to lead the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA on: 0300 1234 999, Kirklees CID via: 101 or Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111.
