A horse has died after allegedly being chased around a field and then dragged behind a vehicle.
The incident is believed to have taken place between 11am and 1pm on Saturday (31 August) in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.
Police told H&H they received reports of violence against a horse.
“Two men allegedly entered private fields and chased a horse around fields in a white Mitsubishi 4×4,” a police spokesman confirmed.
“The horse is then believed to have been dragged behind a moving vehicle until it collapsed and died.”
2 men were arrested by Kirklees Police on Sunday (1 September) in connection with the incident but have now been released on bail.
A post mortem will take place to determine the cause of the death and the RSPCA is helping to lead the investigation.
