A horse breeder estimated to have as many as 2,700 horses grazing in the Vale of Glamorgan has been served an antisocial behaviour order (ASBO).
Tom Price, of Glamorgan Horse Traders Ltd, was accused of repeatedly allowing his horses to fly-graze and stray on to roads.
From now onwards he may only graze his horses on land where he has written permission from the owner.
PC Mike Hawkes, anti-social behaviour co-ordinator for the Vale of Glamorgan, said: “If Tom Price breaches this order, he will be arrested and placed before the courts. We urge the public to contact the police if they see Mr Price in breach of any of the conditions of his ASBO.”
H&H reported on the crisis numbers of horses being grazed illegally in South Wales and dead colts dumped in the area.
Mr Price was given the order by the Vale of Glamorgan Trading Standards and South Wales Police on 9 November at Cardiff Magistrates Court.
He may not sell or transfer ownership of any horses without passports or horses whose passports have not been properly updated.
This tough stance comes just days after Welsh deputy farming minister Alun Davies pledged a crack-down on illegal grazing in the area, on 7 November, vowing to “eliminate” the problem .
Mr Price could not be contacted for comment.
