Organisers of Badminton Horse Trials are calling for budding photographers to send in their favourite photos taken at the world famous event.
Successful entries will make up the Spirit of Badminton Photo Wall 2008. The winner will walk away with a £400 Nikon camera and a VIP pass for four people to this year’s event.
The 10m-long Spirit of Badminton Photo Wall was unveiled at the 2007 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.
The wall was made up of 100 images taken by the public over the years at the annual Gloucestershire event. More than 300 images were submitted last year.
And this year another 10m are being added to the wall, which will be on display throughout the event which runs 1-4 May 2008.
Photos can be of any subject from picnics, dogs and trade stands to mud, horses and riders — as long as they were taken at Badminton, at any time since the inaugural event in 1949.
The winning picture will be the one that in the judges’ opinion best epitomises the ‘spirit of Badminton’.
Judging will be done on Friday 14 March by a panel made up of Badminton director Hugh Thomas, Badminton’s official photographer, Kit Houghton, and head of public relations for Mitsubishi Motors, Andy Wertheim.
Mr Wertheim said: “The Mitsubishi Motors Spirit of Badminton Photo Wall wonderfully captures both the variety and vibrancy of Badminton, along with our proud and record breaking 16-year sponsorship support of the world’s top three-day event.”
First prize is £400 of Nikon camera equipment plus VIP entry and full Mitsubishi hospitality at the 2008 Badminton Horse Trials for four people on the day of their choice.
Second prize is VIP entry and full Mitsubishi Hospitality at the 2008 Badminton Horse Trials for two people on cross-country day.
Entries must be sent in by 5 March on CD or in hard copy print and posted to Badminton ‘Photo Wall’, Press Office, Mitsubishi Motors UK, Watermoor, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 1LF.
Entrants must ensure their name, address and full details of the photo are included. For more information: www.badminton-horse.co.uk
