Hayley Turner hospitalised and horse killed in stalls accident

  • An accident on the gallops in Newmarket this morning (Tuesday 3 March) has led to the death of a racehorse and the hospitalisation of a jockey.

Top female jockey Hayley Turner’s mount Old Sarum suffered a fatal injury while jumping out the stalls at Racecourse Side — the Jockey Club Estate’s training gallops in Newmarket.

The horse broke his shoulder and was put down.

Hayley, who was knocked unconscious and had facial injuries, was able to walk to the ambulance. She was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge for head x-rays.
