Georgie sweeps the board

  • The ominous black clouds above Hickstead did nothing to stop Georgie Strutton setting an exceptional standard in the Easibed British Young Rider Championship at the Royal International Horse Show. After jumping double clears on both of her rides, Georgie took home first and third prizes.

As first to jump in this coveted young rider class, Georgie and Little Miss set the pace with a masterful clear round. The rest of the 12-strong line-up struggled to match Georgie’s performance, with Stephanie Ward jumping the only other clear.

But Georgie went on to double her chances, by jumping clear on her second horse Ross Towner; thus securing two slots in the jump off.

Georgie’s tidy 49.01 sec clear round with Little Miss set the jump-off pace one that Stephanie Ward gallantly tried but failed to match. But Stephanie’s 49.09 sec time was good enough for second place as Georgie clocked up 57.48 sec on Ross Towner.
