Friends fundraise for injured course designer Brian Lear

  • Friends of injured showjumping course designer and owner Brian Lear are raising money to help his recovery.

Mr Lear broke his back when his hydraulic horsebox ramp landed on him in the lorry park at the Royal International Horse Show on 30 July.

His long-term prognosis is unclear, but Brian has crushed two vertebrae, and damaged 5 others, and he has sustained spinal cord damage.

He is being treated at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, Middlesex, where spinal research charity Aspire is based.

A fund-raising evening has been organised at The Six Bells pub in Chiddingly, East Sussex on 4 September, as well as a raffle, which is to be held at the annual South East Eventers League Ball on the 12 November.

Prizes include two annual member passes to Hickstead.

And a Just Giving account has been launched for Aspire, registered charity number: 1075317, to fund-raise for Brian.

For information about the fund-raising eventing, contact Ian Bareham at info@goldencrossec.co.uk or phone on 01825 873022, and to donate go to www.justgiving.com/BrianLear2011
