South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB) has arranged a free contagious disease extension to its policies to protect riding school clients.
This addition to its equestrian property policy provides up to £10,000 loss of income if a school has to close due to an infectious disease outbreak.
It also covers up to £1,000 in related vaccination costs.
The extension was sparked by a recent outbreak of strangles causing a substantial loss of income to an equestrian centre in Hertfordshire, but it will cover any infectious disease.
SEIB managing director Barry Fehler said: “Smaller riding schools operate on very small profit margins and having to close, even for two weeks, due to an infectious disease could have serious consequences.”
