Four horses killed in road crash


  • Four horses were killed when hit by a lorry in Staffordshire last night (1 October).

    The horses had been running loose when the crash happened on the A449 in Stourton at around 7.50pm.

    All four of the horses died when they collided with the Volvo artic and were subsequently removed from the road.

    “The Highways Agency were informed with regards to clearing the carriageway,” a spokesman from Staffordshire Police told H&H.

    “We believe the horses had got loose as there were no riders with them.

    “At the moment we have no details on who owned the horses and this will form part of the investigation.”

    The driver of the lorry was not injured in the incident.

    The road was re-opened at 8.55pm last night.
