Former trainer Toby Balding improving after stroke

  • Former trainer Toby Balding and uncle of sports presenter Clare Balding, is reported to be recovering after a stroke.

The 74-year-old who trained two Grand National winners — Highland Wedding and Little Polvier — had a stroke last week.

He was admitted to the Royal Hampshire Hospital last Monday (4 April) but was yesterday (Monday 11 April) reported to be improving, though the stroke has impaired his sight.

It is unclear how long he will remain in hospital.
