Foot and mouth surveillance zone lifted in Solihull

  • Last night, the temporary foot-and-mouth control zone around a farm in Solihull was lifted, following the return of negative lab results.

The premises under surveillance was only a few miles from Birmingham’s NEC arena, which is due to host the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) from 3 to 7 October.

This morning, the HOYS team confirmed that that planning process for the show had been unaffected during the 36hr period of surveillance.

“HOYS will commence, as scheduled, on Wednesday 3 Ocobter,” said a spokesman.
