A farrier from Wales has been honoured with an award for the way in which he trains his apprentices.
Chris Powell, 49, of Powys, became only the third person to receive the Farriery Training Agency’s (FTA) Approved Training Farrier of the Year Award at a ceremony in London earlier this month.
Award contenders are nominated by past apprentices and a spokesman for the FTA judging panel said: “Mr Powell has demonstrated 100% dedication to his apprentices. He provided a high standard of support and guidance throughout training and made his apprentices feel valued.”
Mr Powell was awarded a £500 prize, an engraved plaque and a specialist training tool.
