Professor Barrie Edwards, veterinary professor and expert in colic in horses at Leahurst Equine Hospital, University of Liverpool, died on 16 May, aged 72.
Professor Edwards was one of the top equine abdominal surgeons in the world and was at the forefront of developing colic surgery for more than 30 years.
He was awarded a CBE in 2002 in recognition of his services to equine surgery.
