Farewell to top showjumping pony producer

  • The producer of many top-class showjumping ponies — including Foxlynch Little John — has died aged 80.

George Edwins had 3 children, Vanessa, Guy and Amanda, who all competed at the top level in juniors.

When George spent his last £1,500 buying a pony called Perrywinkle Blue, friends were sceptical. The the pony was renamed Foxlynch Little John and, trained by George and ridden by Amanda, was leading money winner 2 years later in 1977.

George died on 10 February, after a short illness.
