The British teams had a great day at the ECCO FEI European Championships in Jumping, Dressage & Para-Dressage in Herning, Denmark today.
With 3 out of 4 going clear, our showjumpers got Team GBR off to a fine start. This was followed by successful performances by our first 2 para dressage competitors, including a win by an impressive margin for H&H blogger Sophie Wells.
Unfortunately things didn’t go quite to plan in the grand prix for our first dressage rider Gareth Hughes, but Michael Eilberg and Half Moon Delphi are competitively placed overnight. Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin both ride tomorrow.
Wednesday 21 August: day two
Three of the British team riders, including Scott Brash and Hello Sanctos, jumped clear in the first leg of the team competition to leave Britain in gold medal position overnight
Sophie Wells got the para dressage team off to a great start scoring 74.33% to win the Grade IV team test riding Valerius. Ricky Balshaw and LJT Enggaards Solitaire finished 2nd in the Grade Ib on a score of 73.24%
Michael Eilberg and Half Moon Delphi scored 72.325% in their grand prix test. Unfortunately Gareth Hughes had a very tense ride on DV Stenkjers Nadonna for 60.866%
