Equine physiologist to speak at Marathon conference

  • Equine exercise physiologist Dr David Marlin will speak at the Marathon Medicine Conference on 21 April, the day will before the London Marathon.

Former Animal Health Trust vet Dr Marlin is the first equine specialist to speak at the marathon conference, which is open to all medical professionals, including doctors and vets. He will discuss the equine equivalent of runners: endurance horses.

Dr Marlin, who is working with the International Equestrian Federation in the lead up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, said: “There is a great opportunity for exchange of information here as some of the problems seen in human marathon runners are also seen in endurance horses.”

The conference takes place at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London.
