Equestrian fitness trainer scoops entrepreneurial award

  • The author of a rider specific fitness plan has been given an entrepreneurial award.

Equestrian fitness trainer Matt Luxton was named the “Most Innovative Fitness Entrepreneur 2012” for his “Equestrian Athlete Plan” (EAP), at the UK fitness entrepreneur awards in Birmingham (26-27 May).

The EAP is an e-book with video and audio content to help riders get fit in their own home. Customers also receive a weekly email from Matt with additional support, nutritional advice and workout ideas.

Matt, who is based in Devon, has worked with amateur jockeys and eventers to endurance and social riders. He decided to publish the EAP when he was unable to take on anymore clients himself.

“The emphasis is that the workout routines can be done at home,” Matt told H&H.

“I learnt to ride before I could walk,” he added. “And so as well as being a fitness professional, I understand what riders need and that they often don’t have time to go to the gym.”

The EAP was first published in April 2011 and costs £23.99.
