Endurance champion dies


  • The endurance world mourns the death of former European champion Romano Macri

    Former European endurance riding champion, Romano Macri, died recently of a suspected heart attack during a 60km ride in his native Italy.

    The 43-year-old was competing at an event with his children and was found in a remote spot, having apparently fallen off his horse.

    Romano’s numerous successes included the Qatar International Desert Marathon in l995, when he worked for Sheikh Abdulla Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

    An international endurance judge and member of the Italian National Commission since 1999, Romano Marcri acted as technical consultant at the Qatar Equestrian Federation for several years.
