The rider clothing innovation award at BETA International (19-21 February) went to EquiSapiens Ltd for its product, Sonnenreiter Halifax Breeches
The “highly elastic” riding breeches are made from European Gebutuex micro viscose with an artificial full leather seat, a patented leg zip and anti-slip rubber band around the ankle hem.
“A revelation for riders that have struggled for years with breeches riding up and more effective and comfortable than those with traditional Velcro fastenings,” said a judge. “They not only perform well but are also elegantly shaped and very smart.”
The winner of the saddlery and tack category was Barnsby for the I Tree.
The product is a fully-adjustable carbon fibre saddle-tree, used with a patented heating system
A fully adjustable carbon fibre saddle tree used with a patented heating system. The I Tree is manufactured from aerospace composite material, as seen in Formula 1 cars.
The judges said: “This is an excellent development for the saddle fitting industry which allows adjustments to the tree to ensure the best possible fit for horses. The pricing is sensible and will allow saddle fitters more flexibility.”
Highly commended in this category was EquiAmi Ltd for its EQuiAmi Lunge Cavesson. The flatter, lightweight and soft cavesson was described by judges as “comfortable, user-friendly, durable and excellent value for money”
