The carriage driving world has been saddened by the recent death, after some months of illness, of private driving and coaching whip Michelle Chambers.
Michelles private driving successes came in the mid-1990s with a pair of Hackneys she qualified for the British Driving Society national championships. Thereafter, she became the only woman to compete in coaching marathons with an all-female team of grooms and passengers.
With her husband, Terry, Michelle was instrumental in planning and developing the Polo and Carriage Driving Centre at Great Canfield, near Dunmow, Essex, which will host a two-day event on 21-22 April this year, supported by Britains top horse team and pairs drivers.
