Driver dies following collision with horse

  • A driver whose car collided with a horse in South Yorkshire last month (18 September) has died.

The horse was killed in the accident and the driver was taken to hospital. The 22-year-old had been in intensive care since the crash but police confirmed that he died yesterday (Thursday 2 October).

Police had no details of where the horse had come from or why it was on the road.

The motorist, who has not yet been named, was driving an Audi A4 car when he hit the horse at 6.05am on a road in Askern, a town on the outskirts of Doncaster.

The road was closed in both directions afterwards to enable the recovery work to take place.

The South Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 111 of September 18 2014 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
