Donkey towers above her field mates at Lincolnshire sanctuary

  • A new resident at a donkey sanctuary in Lincolnshire has attracted some strange looks from visitors.

Miss Ellie – who joined the Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary last week – stands at 16.2hh.

The seven-year-old American Mammoth Jackstock was imported from Texas in 2010 and came to the sanctuary after her owners downsized due to ill-health.

“It’s like she’s been here forever. She thinks she’s a little donkey and the others just love her,” said Radcliffe’s Tracy Garton.

“But she does look strange turned out with the rest of our donkeys – most of which are about 11hh.”

Including her neck and ears Miss Ellie measures at eight foot.

Admission to the sanctuary is free.
