Donkey rescued from neck-high mud

  • A donkey, called Geraldine, had to be rescued by firefighters near Bristol after she became trapped in mud overnight.

It took crews from 3 different fire stations 2 hours to free the 15-year-old donkey from a field in Clapton-in-Gordano, Somerset.

“Using boards and strops the firefighters were able to gradually pull Geraldine from the mud,” said a spokesman Avon Fire & Rescue Service.

donkey“After an operation lasting around 2 hours, she was finally freed and reunited with her owners.

“By the time crews left the scene, she had returned to her stable to warm up and have something to eat.”
