Dog that attacked and fatally injured horse put to sleep

  • A dog that attacked and fatally injured a horse has been put down.

The two-year-old Staffordshire terrier cross, owned by Gary Pearce, attacked 27-year-old Arab mare Justina in her field in Dyce, Aberdeen last October.

The horse required 30 stitches in her cheek after the attack on 6 October, but was put to sleep on 16 October after developing an infection.

Mr Pearce admitted responsibility for the incident and pleaded guilty to owning a dangerous animal at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on 28 January.
