Denman owner Harry Findlay accused of breaking racing rules

  • A result is expected today in the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) investigation into allegations that Denman’s owner Harry Findlay broke BHA rules by betting on his own horse to lose a race.

Mr Findlay is accused of “laying” his horse Gullible Gordon on two occasions — in a novice hurdle at Exeter on 21 October 2008 and a novice chase at Chepstow on 10 October 2009.

Denman and Kauto Star fever surged across the country earlier this year when the two superhorses went head-to-head in the Gold Cup, only to be beaten by Imperial Commander.

The case against Mr Findlay was adjourned last night and a verdict is expected this afternoon.
