Death of joint master of Barlow hunt

  • Senior joint-master of the Barlow hunt, Anne Wilson, has died following a fire at her farm in the Derbyshire village.

Fire broke out in the caravan where 89-year-old Miss Wilson lived on the afternoon of Friday, 17 April.

She was pulled from the blaze by a passerby, but died later in Chesterfield’s Royal Hospital.

Miss Wilson had been a master of the Barlow since 1988, following her sister Elsie in the mastership, and she was a past district commissioner of the Barlow Hunt branch of the Pony Club.

The Wilson family have been masters of the Barlow since 1878.
