Charity walk to fund paralympic dream

  • A couple are walking the 100-mile Two Moors Way in Devon to help a friend be selected for the 2012 Para Olympic Dressage competition.

Tessa and Mark Woodhouse — who is the chairman of Wincanton Racecourse in Somerset — are setting out on 9 October from Lynmouth and aim be in Newton Ferrers on 17 October.

They are raising money to get Debbie Hounsome, from Gillingham, Dorset and her retired racehorse Afrika Jongo into the games.

Debbie, 43, is a careworker who was a national gymnast in her teens, before she broke her back and had to have both hips replaced.

Her friends at Henstridge Riding for the Disabled Group have been carrying out various charitable events to raise money to fund training, livery and other costs involved in helping Debbie qualify for the Paralympics

To sponsor the Woodhouses, call Tessa on 0797 1161 080.
