Carriage drivers locked in court row over damages

  • Two Berkshire women are locked in a legal battle after one was injured when out in a carriage the other was driving.

Sally Bodey of Beedon, Newbury, is seeking damages at the High Court from Gillian Hall of Cold Ash, Thatcham, for injuries she claims she sustained when thrown from the carriage in November 2005.

Ms Bodey says Mrs Hall’s driving was negligent and that, as owner of the horse, she is responsible for her injury in any case.

Mrs Hall denies responsibility, arguing Ms Bodey is partly responsible as she failed to wear a riding hat.

A verdict is expected at a future date.
