British Showjumping fines member for drugs allegation

  • A woman who accused British Showjumping (BS) of “condoning the use” of performance-enhancing drugs on horses has been fined £400 by BS officials.

Clare Bossons, a BS member from Oakhanger, Cheshire, was fined at a stewards’ hearing on 31 October, but the details have only just been made public.

Officials took action after Mrs Bossons took part in a leaflet campaign in the north-west, complaining that the misuse of drugs was rife (news, 8 September).
