British pony teams in the medals

  • Two of the British pony teams competing at the European Championships at Vejer de la Frontera in Spain were rewarded with medals.

The show jumpers, Louise Pavitt, Lance Whitehouse, Hanna Penny and Martha Beaumont, won the team gold, a record fifth success for the British ponies.

Holland finished in silver position, with Germany in bronze.

The dressage team of Lorna Edmonds, Julie Swinburn, Sally Makin and GeorgieHamblin won the bronze medal behind Germany and The Netherlands, with Lorna Edmonds and Manitu also fifth individually.

Britain’s pony eventers just missed the team bronze, by 1.8 penalties after Irish chef d’equipe Sneezy Foster asked for a recount on the marks.

The team medals went to Germany, France and Holland, but Britain’s Holly Lemke took home the individual silver.
