BHS Equitation champions crowned

  • Over 40 competitors contested the final of the British Horse Society’s (BHS) Equitation Competition at Warwickshire College on 10 April.

Alice Dymond-Andrews from Pippin Equestrian Ltd in Dorset and Steph Ryder from Newton Hall Equitation Centre, Suffolk were crowned competition champions in the 13-and-under and 17-and-under categories respectively.

Sixteen regional qualifiers were held at BHS-approved Riding Centres nationwide. The aim of the competition is to encourage non-horse owners to ride and compete. Riders must complete three sections; a dressage test, a show jumping course and a short written paper.

Rossie Theobald, winning instructor at Newton Hall Equitation Centre, said: “More than 50 percent of our riders who have competed in the Championships over the years now have their own ponies and are competing successfully.”
