The 2012 British Equestrian Trade Association’s (BETA) Business Awards were presented at the association’s gala dinner on 19 February.
The awards are designed to recognise outstanding contributions to the trade.
The Trade Supplier of the Year award went to agricultural and equestrian wholesaler Trilanco.
Judges said of the Lancashire-based company: “They are easy to deal with. They have good stock levels, excellent customer service, and friendly staff with a can-do attitude.”
The Retailer of the Year Award was divided into four categories – large, medium, small and mail order/internet retailers.
Judging took suppliers’ votes into account, as well as visits by mystery shoppers.
Wadswick Country Store in Wiltshire took the Large Retailer title. Judges were impressed by the store’s presentation and prompt, helpful service.
“They have a fabulous collection of things for horse and rider. There are well-displayed goods and they provide a service with a smile,” the judges said.
Last year’s winner of the Medium Retailer award – R B Equestrian in Buckinghamshire – reclaimed the title for a second year running.
And Iron Horse Equestrian Supplies in South Yorkshire won the Small Retailer award for the third time.
Robinsons Country Leisure took the the Mail order/Internet Retailer award, for their genuine interest in customer queries, fast delivery and personal service.
“They really have the winning formula,” said the judges of the Lancashire-based company.
