Beaufort Polo Club will host the Argentine Club Cup, the highest level polo tournament in the UK
The Argentine Polo Cup takes place at the Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, on Tuesday 18 June and Saturday 22 June.
Now in its fourth year, the Cup featuresthe highest standard of tournament play outside Argentina and gives English players the opportunity to compete at a higher level than standard UK high-goal polo.
Unlike other polo tournaments, which consist of a patron who pays three professional players to play with him, this tournament if only open to professional polo players with a minimum handicap of 4. Each team must have a combined handicap of between 22 and 28.
Last year’s event was sponsored by Mercedes AMG and was televised on SKY.
Special events organiser Mel McQueen said: “We hope to attract a sponsor for this year’s event, which we hope will once again be broadcast on SKY. This tournament looks set to become an annual event.”
The matches are open to the public on both days. The car park costs £10 with reserved grandstand seating costing £10. Lunch tent packages are available at £65 per person or £600 for 10 guests (including a drinks reception, three course lunch with wine, afternoon tea, car pass with reserved seating in the stand).
