Grand prix veteran retires from international dressage

  • Anna Ross-Davies has retired her grand prix ride Pegasus MK from top flight competition.

Anna and the horse’s owner, Jane Sewell, made the decision after returning from Rotterdam CDI last weekend (18-22 June). The pair competed in the grand prix, but withdrew before the special.

“He’s 17 now and nice and sound, which is how I’ve wanted to do it,” said Anna, who was a member of the British European Championship team in 2007 with Liebling II.

Pegasus MK’s career highlights include scoring over 70% at Olympia in 2010 and representing Britain at the 2013 Nations Cup in Aachen.

“He will have a great time at the lower levels with Jane and we would both love the very deserving Beth Bainbridge [Anna’s stable-jockey] to ride a low key grand prix on him at some point.

“I daresay he will continue to try to bronc us off on a regular basis. He owes me nothing; I owe him everything. If you could get 100% for heart (and bucking) then MK would have it,” she added.
