Equine insurers Amlin Plus has added showjumper Mark Armstrong to its list of sponsored riders.
Mark, who has been a British team member since 1987 has represented Great Britain on 33 occasions and competed in one World Championship and two European Championships.
“We have decided to sponsor Mark because he is a top-class sportsman who shows great determination, professionalism and integrity, all qualities that Amlin holds dear,” said David Ashby of Amlin Plus, which specialises in thoroughbred insurance.
Mark is currently competing 13 horses and sits in 12th place in the latest British Showjumping Team GBR rankings list.
His top horse, Thesaura, is owned by his wife, Emma.
In the past seven years, the pair have done well internationally including winning the grand prix at Vejer de la Frontera IV (Spain) recently.
Mark’s other two top rides, Caleta and Lavaletta II, both owned by David Wenman, have also been successful both internationally and in the UK.
“Amlin is a reputable company and that association is very important to me, especially when competing at an international level,” adds Mark.
“The financial support Amlin provides is important, competing at this level is expensive and although I am lucky that my team of horses produce good results, the additional support this sponsorship offers is a great comfort.”
Amlin Plus also sponsors jockeys Richard Johnson, Ryan Moore; Andrew Thornton and Tom O’Brien, showjumper Tim Stockdale, eventer Anna Hilton, and racehorse trainers Philip Hobbs and Ralph Beckett.
