Aachen to host top sport horse auction

  • Future world class dressage and jumping horses from across Europe will go under the hammer at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen (3-8 July).

The traditional CHIO Sales have been condensed into a one-day auction (4 July) selling sport horses from foals to seven-year-olds, from associations affiliated with the World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses.

Experts Peter Weinberg (show jumping) and Ton de Ridder (dressage) will be responsible for selecting the lots included in the sale. Over the coming weeks they will visit potential candidates and track their progress at competitions. As many as 30 horses could be chosen but the organisers are determined to showcase only the best young horses.

“The show has been running for 20 years and we were looking for a new concept,” said show director Frank Kemperman. “Everyone is looking for a good sports horse and there are always a lot of top horses, owners and riders at the World Equestrian Festival.”

An auction catalogue, available as a CD or in print, will be issued prior to the event. All further info can be obtained online at www.chioaachen. Tickets for the World Equestrian Festival can be bought by calling the ticket hotline: +49-(0)241-917–1111
